Hello, I’m Katya! From Kazakhstan to Atlanta, I’ve lived, studied, and worked across the Midwest and the West Coast since 2001. My diverse cultural experiences fueled my passion for visual expression, and allowed me to resonate with and reflect upon my ever-changing surroundings.

After studying fine art and art therapy and working in healthcare, I launched Holkim Studio to dedicate more time to my creative pursuits. When I'm not working with my hands, I'm teaching yoga and diving into the joys of motherhood.

About the Artist:

My work is deeply rooted in personal experiences—drawn from nature, my yoga practice, and the rich narratives of my family and the diverse cultures I've encountered.

Through abstract paintings and paper sculptures, I explore the balance between freedom and stability, wilderness and ease. I dive deep into emotions and sensations, using the power of color and repetition to emphasize moments that shouldn't be fleeting. Each pattern and hue in my work arises from an intensive, cathartic process.

Drawing inspiration from various landscapes and the anchoring nature of yoga, my aim is to create pieces that spark connection and a moment of reflection.

Thanks for stopping by – enjoy exploring!

About Katya’s Art:

Holkim is US, Nick and Katya!

We are a husband and wife team. We started Holkim in Oakland and currently live in Atlanta. Katya is the artist behind the paintings and Nick is the visionary behind the scenes. Together we manage the operations of the company.

Holkim was born during the COVID-19 pandemic. We were overwhelmed and used that moment of uncertainty as fuel for creativity and change. Our work is a reflection of us as a multicultural couple and this is a place for us to experiment with ideas and share what we find interesting.

Our motto “Always Forward” is embedded in everything that we do. We hope our products bring you as much joy as we felt creating them!
